Now in her ninth decade, Suzanne Benton has embarked on a Late Style she's titled All About Color. This entirely new period of work  began during the Covid's pandemic time of isolation and heightened solitude. 

     In her early years, the artist painted trees, landscapes, abstracts, and imaginary portraits with surrealist tendencies. Then, honed by an eventful worldwide life in art, she returned to painting in the 1990's. creating work that drew on influences gathered in the intervening years of travel and art-making.

"[Benton's] recent paintings reflect an increased interest in the natural landscape, often depicting trees and other phenomena in ways that bring to mind the luminosity of the earlier paintings but evince an even deeper sense of connectedness and mystery... Through these lyrical landscapes, Benton conveys her encounters with the natural world."
